Ecoenergia is an experienced clean energy Honduran company, operating since 2015, that specializes in small-scale hydropower to deliver clean, renewable energy to rural communities in Patuca, Honduras. Our core mission is to develop sustainable energy projects that benefit both the environment and the underserved populations where we operate.

Our mission at Ecoenergia is to advance decentralized energy supply with local renewable sources and environmental stewardship through the development of efficient and sustainable small run-of-river hydropower integrated with other renewable sources. The EcoPatuca Solution.
Patuca, Honduras, has significant economic potential but faces challenges such as poor electricity service, environmental degradation, and social and economic stagnation. With a low Human Development Index and a young population under 30, Patuca presents immense opportunities for sustainable development. The EcoPatuca Solution aims to address these issues by leveraging Patuca’s rich natural resources encompassed in a geographical area of 635km2 with our strong local relationships for sustainable growth.
Our Integrated Energy Project: EcoPatuca
EcoPatuca is a comprehensive project aimed at creating a renewable energy-powered smart microgrid in Patuca, Nigeria. The project involves three stages: existing hydropower, solar expansion, and sustainable community development. The first stage involves a 1 MW hydroelectric power plant (buildt and operating), while the second stage involves a 2 MW solar plant and smart microgrid system. The third stage uses electricity revenues from the 2MW solar farm to fund environmental education, watershed restoration, and carbon sequestration projects. The project aims to improve electricity quality, reduce operating costs, and foster economic growth in Patuca.

The EcoPatuca project aims to transform Patuca’s environment, social, and economic aspects through environmental stewardship, improved quality of life, economic empowerment, and a replicable model for similar rural communities facing similar challenges in Latin America and other parts of the world. It provides a clean energy alternative, promotes carbon sequestration, and enhances daily life.
Partner With Us: A Repayable Grant for Transformative Change
Ecoenergia, S.A. is seeking impact investors or donors to partner with us under a repayable grant modality for Stage 2 of a solar farm and smart microgrid project. The funding received will be repaid from electricity sales of the solar farm to fund stage III of the project providing long term sustainability for funding non profit activities such as; environmental education, watershed restoration, and carbon capture. Ecoenergia is committed to transparent reporting and aims to bring sustainable energy and development to Patuca’s rural population.
